OUR FOUR LEGGED FAMILY MEMBERS!

PAWSOME HOLLOW COMET  (04/22/10)

Being our first Bernese, we learned a lot about the breed from Comet.  She is so full of life and love. She comes from the Snocrest line of Berners. Her full thick coat and size are outdone only by her personality and temperament. She was an excellent mama to her first litter-very loving, nurturing and protective.  We had to have two puppy boxes set up for them.  A daytime and one for the night time.  She didn't want to be away from us-but couldn't be away from her puppies either!  So they became the traveling puppies!
Comet gave us two beautiful litters of puppies but she is now retired and living the good life!  She doesn't get to drive as much but spends a lot more time snuggling than she used to!

LITTLE INDIANS BREAK MY MIND   09-01-09

We watched Aro, at a UKC show in Kentucky and fell in love.  We  knew that we wanted him in our program.  Aro is a very loving gentle Berner.  Although he prefers the outdoors and being the 'rugged' type dog, we do insist he come in sometimes just to make sure his indoor manners are intact! He is a sweetheart of a boy!

KATES COUNTRY CANINES OPAL  (04/03/12)

Opal is a very beautiful loving girl.  She used to lay on my lap when she was younger (smaller!) and just look into my eyes...melt my heart!  Now that she is a bigger girl, she will lay her body across my feet and still look into my eyes.  She has such a gentle nature. She just had her first litter of puppies (Aug 2013) and we were so very impressed with her mothering skills!  The love and gentleness that she had shown to us was shown to her puppies as well.  When she would get back into her whelping box, she stood and studied the best way to go so that she could get in and lay where she wouldn't get on any puppies, but that all of her babies could get to her.   When the puppies are born we watch them 24/7 for the first 2 wks of life because it is so easy for a mama to accidentally lay on one of her puppies...but not Opal.  She is very smart, as well as a loving and gentle family member.
Opal as a puppy with Katie's Pomeranian Reo.
Dedicated mother! With 11 babies to feed she found a way to feed them all at one time without laying on one puppy!
Opal has blessed us with a few puppies so far and each litter has had some puppies with some of her signature freckles! She absolutely loves mothering a whole 'herd' of puppies and has had 2 litters of 13 and a litter of 11.  She will be retiring soon and we don't want to lose her genetic line so we have kept 1 girl from each of her last litter...Luna and Lina.  I will be adding them to our page soon!

KATES COUNTRY CANINES SEGEN ROSE   (02/07/14)

Segen Rose was given her name because I felt like Bernese have been such a blessing in my life and when we met the gentleman that we were getting her from, that to was a blessing! She has lived up to the Segen (blessing) part of her name very well!  She is such a gentle loving girl.  Very sensitive to us and what we are feeling.  When she was a little less than a year old Miss Opal had a litter of puppies and when we were trying to wean them, Rosie decided it was time for her to take over!  She would go lay down in front of the puppies and let them crawl all over her and she would play very gently with them.  Then a few months after that, she felt the need for her own litter.  At that time she collected a Furby, a stuffed kitten, and 2-3 other soft dog toys and proceded to mother these.

SIR BENSON           (12/29/12)

Known around here as Big Ben!  He absolutely cannot fit in the chair with me and barely fits on the couch with Katie!  He absolutely loves it when we sit on the floor or ground with him and he gets to lay his head in our lap while we pet him.  He is so full of energy and enthusiasm when it comes to playing with new/different toys   Ben is very gentle with Katie knowing not to jump on her and to only jump on me when given permission. Larger than life and full of love!

REMEDI ANN                   (10/18/12)

Remi girl is such a very special girl.  She is such a wonder and loving girl with just a tad bit of jealousy if she isn't the center of attention! The first picture that I have here of her is my favorite-it is one where I was able to capture her facial features very well. Her very favorite thing is a belly rub but she doesn't just want to lay down for a belly rub...no, Miss Remi would rather sit up and balance on her haunches so that you can rub her belly...and she's pretty good at it!

Kates Country Canines Sir Mikey       (11/21/15)

Mikey is one huge ball of fun!  He came from Big Ben and Rosie's litter and I just fell in love with him and kept him.  He didn't mind 'Mama Rose' giving him a dental check up as seen in a picture below. And as you can see in another picture, while in his 'teenage stage', he was quite the magician! (even made a chair explode!)  But, just look at that big ole happy face! He loves to lay his head sideways in the palm of your hand and look in your eyes and melt your heart! (such an amazing boy!)
